Manual say remove CPS to remove trans????
I'm going to put my DTT TC and VB in this weekend and I'm a little mystified by the fact that the manual tells you to remove the crankshaft position sensor in order to remove the trans. Seems kind of strange!
The only thing I can think of is that you might hit it while trying to spin the motor over with a large socket wrench while getting the converter bolts out. And speaking of turning the motor over by hand, is this going to be a problem since these motors are such high compression? Or should I just try bumping the starter with the ignition?
DTT sends you new input shaft rings and a new pump housing gasket but I'm wondering if I even need to worry about installing these. My trans only has 27,000 miles on it. I would think that the stock pump gasket could handle the few extra PSI that the VB will put out.
Other that all that, it looks pretty easy, it's just a torqueflite and I've pulled many of them in my day, just on older cars. I got estimates of $500.00 to $600.00 to do the install and I just couldn't bring myself to pay someone that kind of $$$ for a few hours work when I know I can do it myself. I just didn't feel like doing it. I'm going to go today and buy me a transmission jack from Harbor Freight for $130.00 and then I'll probably sell it. Once again, I couldn't bring myself to pay $50.00 to rent one..
I guess that the fact that I do a lot of purchasing for my company had made me really stingy..................
I'll keep you guys posted on the results. Oh ya, keep an eye out in the "HELP" section, I'm sure I'll be posting there this weekend!!!!

I never touched it when I pulled my trans. I also found that you don't have to remove the starter, even though the FSM tells you to. The top bolt is a bear to reach, so leaving it in makes life much easier.
As for rotating the engine to get the converter bolts out, I just used a big screwdriver to turn the ring gear, levering it against the side of the transmission case (with the inspection cover off). It turned very easily.
