Made it to the track with the 05 Dually
Took me a while but I finally got over to the track with my 05 CTD quad cab, long bed 4x4 dually 3500.
Ran a best of 15.04@91.37MPH
I'm really happy with that since I have done 3 things to the truck:
1. Put in a NAPA big arsed round air filter thingy
2. Put a MRPR 4 inch mandel dual exhaust system
3. Installed an SPDeisel Control Box.
Ran a best of 15.04@91.37MPH

Hey DodgeStang,
I was wondering how you like the SP box? How does it work (i.e. more fuel pressure or more injector timing)? Does it have a control box in the cab? Does it defuel with high EGT's? I am real interested in the price and am hoping that the ol' saying doesn't play in " you get what you pay for..." Anyway, any info would be helpful...

I like it alot.
In cab control over fuel, timing and boost. They have an install PDF on their site that does a good job explaining how it works. I haven't had a defuel issue....I do still have a wall at 3200 or so RPM where the truck just won't go any faster which I assume is a computer based governor.
The only problem I had was the occasional code getting thrown with no performance issue associated with it and then going away 4-5 starts later. Figure out I was firing up the truck too fast (its my first diesel) and now that I actually start the truck right, let the glow plugs fire up no more codes.
They have a dial for controlling the power levels...but really all I need is a toggle switch...its either all the way up...or turned all the way down for snowy/raining days.

any way you can go to a track other than Cecil County or Atco? They are notorious for being really fast tracks and people run their best times there
Great times though for a dually, especially with little done. i had a straight pipe and my BD and ran a 15.013@91.84 5000' above sea level

"Glow Plug" Figure of speech allow me to restate to a more appropriate level to match my own diesel knowledge....
"uhhh I wasn't waiting long enough for the little light dohickey on the dash to not be lit up anymore before starting up the truck"

Track was still open on Dec 3. It was freaking cold though...time slip says 30 degrees.
I've done nothing to the trans. The best time was also the first time for the day. After that I was consitently 15.1xx at 90 ish.
First run was drive in, brake to 15-1800 and go down track
Second run was switched into tow haul
Third run was manually shifting
Fourth run was the same as first for tranny but launch at 2k and with tail gate down
Fifth run was launch at 1400-1500 with tail gate down
Sixth was tail gate down launch at 1500-1800
and finally the seventh was launch at 2k with tail gate up
All produced very similar results in the 15.1xx range except the first run which was 15.04...I equated it to trans temp because the shifts did start to feel a little softer. SO far I have done nothing to the trans but think a shift kit might be in order
