Driving into work this am in the 10 or so inches of snow that we now have here and for a moment the truck lost complete power then it came back on. Was travelling at about 25 mph steadily on a slight incline through the back roads of my area, 4x4 engaged and tow/haul mode engaged too. Check engine light came on and when I checked for codes it showed P0251.

Any ideas before i book her in for an appointment?

 

Okay finally looked it up and ... P0251 Injection Pump Fuel Valve Feedback ... is what the code stands for, does this mean the pumps on the way out?

 

Haven't heard of any injection pumps going on the 3rd gens. It could be bad, stuff happens.

Could it be gelled fuel? What were the temps?

I had that code too, along with loss of power. Dealer installed new injection pump(twice). No more problems since.

 

Took it in and the service manager kept it overnight for a 140km round trip run to check it out. They say that the Predator chip was causing the problem, so they replaced it with a new predator and said to keep an eye on it and just let them know if it acts up again. Also had the reflash done at the same time, seems great, but now my foglights don't work ... at any rate, my dealer treats me like gold! (Also gave me a full tank of fuel to boot!)
