Lost lower radiator hose clamp

Has anyone ever heard of the lower radiator hose clamp breaking apart? I red- lined my temp gauge today for a few seconds and had to add about a gallon of water to limp into a dealer. They found a broken clamp. The truck only has 2500 miles on it.

I haven't heard of any others with this problem, and I regularly watch a couple of forums. I'll be sure to check mine though, thanks for the heads up and good luck.

I broke one on the 06 during test drive. I saw it was leaking when I got back to the dealer and they put a screw type on to fix it. It was the top hose clamp at the engine (head). Spring clamp steel made in China I guess??

I've seen 2 chebys do that on the lower hose. Kinda a cheesy clamp that locks open to install, and the line workers have to release it after putting the hose on. At first I thought they hadn't released it, but after trying to put a pair of the special pliers on it, half of the clamp fell to the gound. Agreed - screw type hose clamp was the fix for those too!

No problem with radiator clamps but had a turbo clamp (exhaust side) break which resulted in a lot of noise and a replacement turbo (warranty).
