Looking at a 2005
#32
Thinking ahead for the winter was wondering if anyone had any experience with these winter fronts. They plug into your grill. Looks like a nice setup but I wonder how well they hold on to the plastic grill and if they do damage over time? Anyone have any experience about this setup?

Well I got a hold of these grill covers. They seem to do a good job and helps the truck warm up a lot faster......we'll see how well they do in the extreme cold we should have later in the winter season.

Well I am about 2 months into owner ship on this 2005 Cummins. I really love the truck overall. I am noticing the seats in it are not as comfy as my 95 Ram Laramie SLT seats. The rest of the no frills plain jane lack of options hasnt been a problem other then keyless entry is a nice feature when you have kids and stuff trying to get in and out. Manual locks clearly are a hassle! Been happy with how fast the heater puts out heat. Although its not really too cold yet in Kansas here. We have had some 20's and the truck seems to kick out heat fairly fast.
I have not went on a long haul trip yet but I had mixed driving the first month and averaged 16.7 mpg. My 2nd tank of fuel was all in town putting around and only got 13.8. I was a little dissappointed in this after hearing some of the mpg claims of others and their trucks. I was hoping the 2wd shortbed stock engine would help me in that department. I have been driving with a very light foot overall (I do have some fun everyonce in a while) and am going to on my next tank to drive the truck a little more agressive and see if that helps the mpg. I have had vehicles in the past where that helped. Not really looking at speeding and stuff but getting up to speed at a modest rate. I also wonder too if I may have got winter grade diesel on the 2nd tank.
The 5.9 is a big bad engine with loads of tork............I really like it!

Love my '05 too.. I average about 17mpg in mine with mixed driving, mostly in town. Freeway trips I can easily get 25mpg if I keep the speed down.
Towing my 10k lbs fiver I can expect about 10-11 on flat ground.

I have an 05 plain jane regular cab. I have 205000 for milage and have only changed the fuel control actuator, and i just did that. I can get almost 21 on the highway and usually 17 to 18 in town. I have towed a ford for 800 miles and managed to get 16. I think you will like the truck.

They sell on ebay or buy direct from their site. I added the stickers.
