Longer crank and smoke
Started it at 50deg today without grids and it took noticebly longer to crank and after it started emitted a puff of white smoke. Is this normal for 50deg w/no grids?
If I use grids it starts much faster and no smoke puff.

Right, but I was wanting to know if this is typical of using no grids in 50deg. If so, how do people with grid deletes ever get their truck started at 10deg?
I understand that the difference was the grid heaters but it seems like mine starts kinda rough for the temp (50deg) and no grids. Just trying to get a feel for how it should start. It seems like my 2001 would crank up almost instantly in anything but freezing weather, without waiting to start.
