A little help for a Diesel newbie......

I go out today and start the truck to go pick up the little cowboy from daycare and the engine light is on and won't go away. If I put the key in and turn it to on but don't start the truck if flashes 10 times and then stays illuminated. If I remember correctly the flashing is normal, a self check thing??? I have a Mac Tools OBDII reader it is about 5 or 6 years old and it keeps telling me operations error. Is the OBDII reader supposed to work on these trucks? I know they have the CAN BUS system, I was hoping it would give me a code since it does have the connection. Truck only has 8900 miles and no mods what so ever. Oil was changed about 200 miles ago after a long road trip pulling a horse trailer, but that was two weeks ago and everything has been fine until today.

This is from another thread but you can get the code and then post back up here with what you get. This will make it easier to figure out. And then go to http://www.troublecodes.net/OBD2/Pcodes.shtml to see what it is.

Ok finally got the key trick to work. It gave P0153. I can in to look at the list of codes and well thats not on there so I go back out to try it again figuring I I got it backwards in my brain and now the code is gone and so is the light. I guess something had a hick up today and now its happy again.

Anybody have any idea what that code was? I am positive thats what it said.

You could have had that Battery temp sensor code. After so many cold starts w/o the condition the light goes out.

Strange... P0153 = O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
