A Little Clutch Advice Please

Mt.Dew, if I were in your place I would strongly suggest you research the SB DD3250 dual disk clutch.
Yea, it is more money, but after all the BS, it is the one which "should" work best for the longest for you.

His truck is basically stock, why would he need a DD? How noisy is your BTW Pat?
How old is your clutch n2? I got mine a year ago.
I've gotten PM's about my OFE, people hearing others saying their's are noisy, mine is quiet, clutch in or clutch out, maybe something has changed over at SB?
I'm curios enough that I'm going to call them to find out...

i have had sb in all my trucks and have no problems with'em and i tow about an avg of 16k on the trailer and the trailer is 8k. they have hels up well, i have a valair on this 06 because money was tight when the dual mass gave up and this was affordable. its ok but does have some noise to it. the reason to get out of a stock clutch is that it will hold up longer and if he adds power he will not have to upgrade it later on. If you do a lot of towing you would understand

The OFE is far from a stock clutch.
Anyhow, I just called SB to find out what the deal was with the noisy OFE's some people were experiencing compared to my quiet one.
The first thing he told me is with the solid flywheel you'll hear the gear clash of the G56 a lot more than you did with the DM flywheel, some people mistake that gear noise as coming from the clutch.
He also told me OFE's with the LUK design (the one I have) were quieter than the current "spicer design" clutches they're making. Up till a couple weeks ago the spicers they were making were noisier than my Luk design, but they've changed them now and the new one Spicers will be quieter.
He said the "spicer design" have the same HP rating but will take more abuse than the Luk design one, something to do with then center of the clutch disk.

Update to my clutch. Well, I took it into the shop and got a phone call within hours. I knew the clutch was slipping and I have been towing for years. I know what I am doing. LOL. My phone call asked me to come in and take a look at the truck while it was apart. I witnessed a 1500 clutch plate part number and parts. I bought this truck brand new and it is a 3500 5-speed. It wasn't my fault at all. It was the wrong part installed from the factory. I installed a ProComp set-up and could not be happier. Thanks for all the help.
