Limited slip stock front axle?
#16
Randy's Ring and Pinon told me a week ago that there is nothing out for the 9.25" front end (axles, gears, lockers, hubs, nothing) until mid-2005.
Don't even know the specs of the front axle (axle shaft diameters. pinon diameters - I'm sure it's a FF....).
610 ft. lbs. plus through a locked front end with a 40" front tire stuck between rocks, 2.71:1 lo-range all going to that 1 stuck wheel can snap an axle (hopfully the u-joint first) - that is why the factory does not lock or LS the fronts... Or your tire is spinning fast and get stuck inbetween rocks and stops instantly...but the axle doesn't stop, it snaps.
The D-60 is a 9.75" axle - one would assume stronger as ring dia. = strength. They snap all the time rock crawling in light-weight rigs. Imagine and 8k lb rig....
I've seen many axles snap - all under extreme conditions add in beer and testostorone induced courage compounded by drunk spotters and buddies egging you on don't help either....
I believe the front locker the PwrWagon will be using is that new Eaton E-Locker (Electric actuated locker - push button). Purdy schlik...
