lights dimming
do i have a problem???? when i get in my truck and start it like at night or anytime well at night its easier to tell but ill have my lights on and when i start to drive they will brighten up when im idling and have the interior lights on the get dim then bright do i have any kind of problem

Fill out your sig so we'll know what you are driving . If it's a Cummins, this is normal. The dimming of the lights is caused by the operation of the intake air heater or grid heater. Outdoor temperatures below 40 or 45*F trigger the grid heater to cycle for a few seconds to a few minutes to heat the air entering the cylinders. This enables easier starting in cold weather. You can watch the volt guage. When they are cycling, the needle is to the left of 14. When they are off, the needle is slightly to the right of 14.

lights dimming 2006
I bought a 2006 megacab 3/4 ton 4X4 turbo diesel and got in it my first night to check everything out and noticed this cycling lights
I freaked out at first but thanks for info .
