Lift Pump Problems with 600-610 motors?
#16
He's saying that the pump will not work if the lift pump fails. He's not saying that the CP3 will fail if the lift pump fails. 2 different scenarios.
If the lift pump is replaced the CP3 will work again. You don't have to replace both pumps

16000 miles and I'm on lift pump #3. the last failure couldn't have happened in a worse place. 300 miles from home in the middle of the mountains on a logging road. It made for an interesting evening!
I sure hope I'm close to town WHEN the next one goes...

I use this truck for oilfield work and am in the middle of nowhere a lot. Fortunately the last time I had cell phone coverage. I'm sure happy to hear that dodge is doing something about the problem.

summitman and journier you guys have 04.5 truck which have a different lift pump, the thread starter was inquiring about 05 trucks which have their lift pump in the tank, yours are on the fuel filter on the engine.
EDIT:: ooppps my mistake, the thread starter was wondering about 600 and 610 engines. I know of no failures on the new intank design and if there is a failure on the 03-04.5's there is a tsb out to replace with the intank type. Sorry for the confusion.
