Lift Pump Is Junk!
I'm just woundering how many other people have had to replace ther ultra crappy lift pumps in there 2003 and newer cummins. I have 40,000 Km on my truck and this is the second lift pump to go on it. I know a guy with 90,000 km on his 2004 and he's one his 5th lift pump. What gives, Now I'm mad Because this time it fail at work, so I had a $200 tow jobs because dodge roadside ***. does't pay for your tow if you have a welder bolted in the back. Now,I'm missing out on a lot of pay because I can't work for four days till my truck is fixed. Dodge tells me that's not there problem, I need to slap someone there. Now that I'm done my *itching, is there a better after market lift pump that will not fail.

Do a search for either " Walbro " or "FASS " and you will coem up with more info then you can read in one evening! I personally like the Walbro system that Superduty came up with but many would agrue that the FASS is the way to go...either way there are alternatives.

Sorry to hear about your troubles... just out of curiosity, did you use fuel additives? if so which kind? Do you usually fill up when it's on empty, 1/4, 1/2 etc etc?
Not trying to bust any chops by all means, just curious to see who used additives vs. who didn't to compare lift pump failures.

Sorry to here your pain, but do a surch on superdutys walbro lift pump and you will never regret it and wont have the problem again.
Best thing I have done, and the piece of mind is amazing.
Superduty is on top of his game with this one and don't let anybody tell you different. If you need any help locating parts or were to find them just ask. The job really isn't hard if you have any mechanical skill and with you saying you have a welder in the back of your truck you shouldn't have any problems figuring it out.....all kinds of reading to do if you want and all the info is out there. There are a buch of us with the walbro on our trucks and none of us that I have read have ever had a hickup since! So let me/us know if we can help ya. Can't keep a working man from working.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to look up the information. I never used additives I think I might start. I usually fill up at 1/4 of a tank, but at work we get our fuel for free, so it's more often. But I some how doubt it's the best diesel money can buy, and the tanks are probably not the cleanest. I change my fuel filter every 10,000 km. I'v got the feeling that running the low grad fuel is causing most of our problems, because if some people never have a problem and there pumps last for ever, there must be something causing the failure. I seem to me that just about every newer dodge truck on this job site has had a pump failure.

I herd of that, but I was also told that '03 s couldn't be up dated. But the 04, 05 ,06 could. I hope your right, it would be nice to eliminate the problem. I'm going to check with the dealer to see what there going to do.

You could get the RASP system. It's mechanical and is probably a lot more reliable than any electric pump. Seems like I have read that the diesel fuel in Canada is very poor quality and causes all sorts of fuel system problems on the HPRC's.

mine just got replaced with a in tank,,it still ran tho,,just started to miss when cold,,,the motor has other issues they are trying to figure out,,i think a ijector is bleeding down over night cause it smokes awhole lot in the morning when started,,,they did ask me if i ever had a performance chip in it, never had one in there,,and now I"m sure i never will
