lift pump conversion happening !

A tech tip came across my desk stating that any 3003 or 2004 diesels with lift pump failure will require a intank conversion kit and a ecm flash

So you need to come in with a failure to get this done? Or can you just drop in and say you've had failures before and want it done? DC is picking up the tab?
Hoser, where in AB are you?

I'll believe it when I see it with my own eyes. DC went 5 years without recalling ball joints on the Durangos when cost and liability is much higher.

I also don't think DC will lower the powertrain warranty from the 7year/70k miles. Why would they? DC won't honor the warranty so why would lowering the warranty coverage help the profit margin? Hell, increasing the warranty to infinity with unlimited miles wouldn't cost them any more.

Its an advanced notice , not a tsb or a recall . Its just a heads up for dealers , telling us that if you have a lift pump failure that there is a new way to fix it....origional lift pumps are no longer availiable .....changes up to a new tank and internal lift pump.....will be a recall soon ...........told ya so !

is warranty still going to be 7/160km or is it going to be 3/60km like any intank component, if this is the case this is going to suck for us in a big way

Even if there is a recall I'm still going with the Holley Blue pump using the Scotty lift pump replacement fittings if and when my lift pump heads south.

This will be covered under the diesel 7/160 until it becomes a recall (maybe).

So does this mean the the problem has been fixed with the 2005 models? Or at least not as much of a concern? Can anyone tell me how the lift pump configuration is different on the 2005?

Thanks!

2003-2004.5 are on the motor on the back of the filter housing, 05's are in the tank.

That's good news, I can't believe they are going to a whole new tank. I wonder when it might become a recall, sure would be nice to get it done before it ruins a long weekend with the camper.

They have 900 kits for the 34 gallon trucks and 500 for the 35 gallon trucks in the USA warehouses, very few in Canada yet ? Must contact Tech line to order........and by the looks of things now, its just a fuel pump module , harness and ecm flash, no new tank...makes more sense now.

Why do you suppose an ECM flash?
