Lift pump again.

Last Oct. I had the cough and thought I ran out of diesel. I t did the start run for a couple of seconds and die. Towed to the dealer and of ran fine. Three days later same deal, towed to the dealer they put in a lift pump. 15k and three months later same deal as it sits in the dealer awaiting the same. They say the part has been back ordered as 600 are on order. My ? to the diesel heads, is this lift pump for the 3rd gen. only - and if so are we starting to see a pattern here? Are they easy to put in? Any info would be a great help.

Our EMS truck is on its third replacement lift pump. Looking seriously about installing an inline pump. In both the company truck and my own. Although my own truck has been fine so far. And yes, I think we are starting to see a pattern here.

my lift pump died @ 7k miles, the dealer told me that these things have been going bad and that they've installed a revised design that is supposed to last...I am sceptical to say the least....
