If its leaking you should have it replaced, this could be costly. The HCU is used for the anti-lock brake function, its primary function is to hold the fluid under pressure until its needed (when the anti-lock system is activated). You can still drive around because the HCU has nothing to do with regular braking functions, just anti-lock function.

Oh yeah, if you decide to replace the HCU yourself, you will need a DRB III scan tool to bleed the CAB and HCU. That's why I tell my customer's I only can fix certain things on late model vehicles.

The HCU actually releases pressure when it sees a brake locking up. Other than that you can bleed the brakes by doing a normal bleeding procedure, then get on some gravel and have the abs engage and then bleed them one more time. This has worked well for me, and I HAVE a DRBIII . The DRBIII isn't really necessary, and I have not noticed one iota of difference doing it either way. I also haven't seen many HCU's actually leaking. Clean it off with some brake clean, and have a partner hit the brakes a couple of times and see. If you have to replace the CAB (controller), you can use a buddies or your own aftermarket programmer to program the revolutions per mile. They can be found at tires.com under the info tab.
