It works just fine on my '03. I don't turn the key all the way off, just back enough to turn everything off, in other words don't press the key release button. I don't know if they changed the '06 or not.

3 complete on and offs, then back to on, watch the odometer. should work for you.

On my 05 here's what I do
Put the key in
Turn On
Turn off
Turn On
Turn Off
Turn on

The codes will then show in the odometer. I didn't do it 3 times, then on again. I put the key in and turn it to where everything turns on, but dosn't start. Should work, maybe 06 is different. Does the manual say anything on how to find codes?

I believe that on the 06s things have changed. Not sure if there is a way to display the Trouble Codes on the OD any longer. I tried it on an 06 Mega Cab that I was "test driving" and it did not work. Broke that salesman's heart when I said nah I was just looking.

Well maybe I was just in a hurry on the 06. Salesman was getting on my nerves by then.

I went with my brother to look at some 06's and checked the codes on them, at first i didnt think you could get the codes that way anymore until the the 4th truck we looked at gave me a code. Naturally, the salesman said that all new trucks throw that code. But none of them said "done"

The only way to get the salesman to shut up is to act all aggrevated while driving through town then look over at him/her and real seriously and ask him if his seat belt is on and tell him to "HOLD ON!!!" Changes the whole "" Ive had customers report 37mpg towing 20 ton "" additude.
