Keeping the Bugs out.......
I have a "03" 2500 CTD HO 48RE QC....i could go on, but just look at my sig.
Question: Does anyone use some type of screen between the grill and raditors's to keep the bugs and trash from getting into the cooling fins? ???
What mesh size..?
Thanks
OH... she's a dream to drive.......no pics yet

A lot of people have used your basic window screen.

Just cut to fit, attach with zip ties or whatever.

The metal screen works better than the plastic screen.

You can also find some commercial covers that have the screen for summer and solid cover for summer.

Can't for the life of me remember who makes them though.

phox

One thing you gotta remember with the screen door on the front of the truck you WILL have less air flow therefore less cooling. When I worked on the shop floor many air cond complaints were due to bug screens not letting the air through the a/c condenser. Take them off and the a/c pressures are back to normal and cooling in the car is returned. If you do put 'em on keep them clean. I've never run them but the a/c condenser gets kinda battered at 250k
Re:Keeping the Bugs out.......
Great suggestion I learned from my dad. He always used the firm metal screen and he used a zip tie or a small rope folded and stitched into the top then along the bottom he takes three or four 45 caliber 200-300 grain 45 bullets (obviously just the lead not the shell) split the bullet with a small saw or razor knife about 3/4 of the way down the bullet. Then he crimped them on with pliers really tight and swung them down past the front of the air conditioning condensor. Do not let them hit the condensor though. He then pulled into a car wash once a week or so and pulled the screen up to hang out the front then washed the screen super easily. Kept the condensor clean and cleaned up really easily. Just untied it for the winter or you could just leave it in place if you don't care. Worked great lasted indefinately never caused heatup that I heard of. You could also use split sinkers, nice big ones to do the same thing. He always reloaded and therefore bullets were much easier to come up with. When you can get to the front and back of the screen like that you could clean it up MUCH easier and much better.

Humbly For your info only. But just DO NOT USE LOADED SHELLS, if you are unsure just use the sinkers. (for those non-gunners or lawyers out there.)

Monte
