Just a thought on injector problems to get DC's attention
#16
Probably just the dripping vent hose is enough to get the EPA involved. Also, excellent idea regarding whether these trucks WILL even pass emissions when an injector has a failure - probably not. The insurance industry is another place for support - 1) they are going to pay big time if we all cash in on the 'dirty fuel stuff; 2) they are going to get really deep into the pockets of the fueling stations and refiners once they have settlements on all the law suits to recover their costs to us over the 'dirty fuel'; 3) they possibly already have paid on some 'unexplained' fuel related fires or will in the near future as you are correct about the possibility of this being a fire danger. In the early 90's maybe, right about the time the new body style came out or shortly afterwards, there WERE a lot of fires involving the Dodge diesels, I remember several people whose trucks DID catch fire. This may jog a lot of memories here and on other sites, maybe even those who did have a fire. I think that was pretty much unexplained at the time, there was some discussion about turbo bearings getting hot, but since my memory is not plugging in very well, maybe someone else will remember. It could have even been fuel pump related.

OK, now that I've got your attention, lets bomb the EPA and NHTSA with valid complaints. They must get enough complaints from many areas to consider it a major problem. If you have had this problem or know of someone that has in any way or form report it or suggest that they report it to the listed sites.
Hopefully there will be enough complaints to genterate something and if enough come in fast enough (Maybe the life span of injectors is reaching its capacity) one of the agencys may start a major investigation which will benefit us all.
