Yeah, that design seems better, It wasn't easy trying to line up the two pins and keep from tearing the gasket.

It came with wax paper strip with a little grease on it.

What made matters worse was the gasket only went on one way so if it fell when you were just about to line it up, it got dirty and then you had to try and figure out which way to put it on.

Maybe you can answer me this. Is the hissing sound from the Jake on your truck louder at the tailpipe or the engine compartment? Do you have stock exhaust? I can barely hear the hissing in the engine compartment of my 99 but it it a much louder engine. I hope I didn't screw-up the gasket surface.

Dodge dealer here gets 1350.00 installed when you buy a new truck, however I didn't opt for one, but wish I would of now.

Jim,

I get a pretty good hiss both places, with stock exhaust.

At one point I had a leak at the turbo outlet, and it squealed REALLY loudly when I turned on the brake on a steep grade with the 5th wheel.

I tightened the band clamp a bit more than what the specs call for, and it went away. Apparenlty leaks there were why they had new jakes on hold for a while, but mine predated that. I would imagine if I hadn't tightened it up right away, the gasket would have gone away shortly.

I guess as long as it doesn't scream when you are using it, and you don't see soot building up around the bandclamp, you are probably fine.

There isn't a gasket on the stock elbow, but I think you would have a very loud leak if you put the Jake on without one.

Should have been in a little plastic baggy.

Don't give up that easily turaram, you haven't got to the fan belt maze yet! . It wraps around eight different pulleys .

Oh yeah, don't forget to paste a copy of that fan belt route on the underhood, or you'll never be able to replace it on the side of the road.
