Installing cab clearance lamps?
I have a 2006 2500 ctd, I currently don't have clearance lamps but i do want them. The Question is does anybody know anybody or where i can have them installed? Is it a big ordeal? well i get leaking problems? well it be pricey? if anybody could answer some questions, it would be great!!

A couple of guy have had them installed, believe it or not, at a reasonable price from the dealer. I want to say it was something like $250-300 installed. I have personally put a set in and the hardest things was getting them lined up (and figuring out how to get the headliner out of the truck without damaging it!!). Nice to know they actually make kits that have a template, spent about 3 hours on line looking at pictures, getting measurements.

i did mine on my 04, ordered the kit from mopar, costs like $80. You need to make sure you get the "new style" of lamps. they sent me the older version from the old body style. i went ahead and put them on anyways. its a pretty simple install. i just changed mine out yesterday for the recon smoked ones. the look awesome but like i said i had to drill new holes because i got sent the wrong lamps. oh well, its an easy install tho, i can give you more info if need be.

I installed Recon smoked roof lights (that have the amber LEDs...really look much better then stock in my opinion) to my 05 that didnt have them installed, so far no leaks, the only thing was that i had to make a harness for them and i had to find the measurements for the lights. It turned about great and i Love them.
Good luck with what ever way you get it done.

I too purchased mine from the dealer. The kit came with a template to line up the holes you have to drill. (3 per light) It was a very easy install, and took a couple of hours to complete. I put silicone around each hole, and have been leak free.
I did it myself, as I could not stand the fact of having someone else drill holes in my roof!
Good luck

i installed the recon lights on my 04 last week... i bought a template from dodge.. AKA i giant piece of paper. i would say the biggest tip i have would be to get every single fridge magnet you have to help you line it up and hold it in place, i did mine solo that that was a big help..
i also built my own harness, and tapped into the factory harness that runs up the pass. side A pillar.
good luck.

Well here's another "me to" on the Recon's. Did mine last Monday with no templete just used the 16 page guide from the Recon website and everything went perfect. I did built my own harness and tapped into the existing wires on the passenger A-pillar as the others have done. I used painters tape to put down first and then make my marks on it before drilling.
One thing to note is I think the factory OEM lights have 3 screws and the Recons only 2 (front-back) so buying a template to put on the Recons might not work. Really, the measurements are easy to do, just make sure you re-measure 3 times to avoid mistakes.
Good luck!

I got the kit from eBay and had no problems with installation, 4 years with no leaks (knock wood ) Hardest thing was the proper placement as i did not have the template.
It is a easy couple of hours unless you have the $$$ to have the dealer do it.

One question I have not seen is accessing the roof. Are most guys just doing it off a ladder from the sides? I have been wanting the recons for some time now but the thought of drilling my roof makes me queesy and I would trust myself far more than anyone else.

I actually just stood on the door jab and seat most of the time. I had to climb up a little higher while drilling the center light but even then I just used the door to prop my foot in and laid out over the cab. It was much easier to reach than I thought it would be. The only problem I encountered in the whole process was I had a bolt strip while taking out my driver side A-piller. I ended up never getting it out and had to reach further across to wire that side since the headliner wouldn't drop all the way down with that A-pillar still in place.
