I'm not trying to cause problem, i stumbled onto this thread through the FASS deception one and started doing some research on cat fuel filters and found this in Cats 2011 filter guide PDF and as far as i can tell your cat (1R-1750) 2um fits this category:
Cat Advanced High Efficiency Fluid Filter — Fuel
• Engineered for maximum protection, performance and fuel economy.
• Removes more contaminants, maximizing protection of injectors, pumps and other critical
engine components.
• Best choice to meet today’s fuel contamination challenges, especially in applications with
dirty fuel.
• Engineered for today’s diesel engines with higher injection pressures and closer tolerances.
• High efficiency cellulose/synthetic blend filtration removes more than 98% of particles 4 microns or larger.
the only reason i bring it up is because i got looking through Cats filtration guide and didnt beleive it at first because i had read this threadand very much liked what i had read in here...........please advise if you have other data sources to prove me wrong, i have been off coffee long enough today to be incorrect haha

Yes it does. There was a shift in the NIST calibration standards a few years back. In the old, and commonly known, standards 2um was an acceptable rating. The new standards realized that 2um is nearly impossible to measure and what they thought was 2um is really 4um. So based on new NIST calibrations 4um is the best you can measure, same filter new standards.
I still refer to it as a 2um filter becusae that's what people ask for, its easier to use the standards that are more common, and were in use when Bosch made their specs. Honestly as long as your filter is better than 5um you are beating the Bosch reccommendation and should be good.
There are several filters that are the best in this catergory, the 1R-0750, P551313 are the two that come to mind.
Hoperfully here in the near future companies like Donaldson, Racor, and Fleetguard will use the new NIST calibration specs but for now its just Cat and Baldwin.

AH64ID,
Ran across a discussion you were having on another site about 2mic filters. Specifically, the Donaldson P551313 and the Cat 1R-0750 and the new testing standards that Cat only uses. Confusing... I've been using the Cat and what I thought was 2mic, but now it's rated at 4mic. What testing standard does Donaldson use? Just trying to figure out what filter is still close to 2mic absolute.
Thanks,
jacob

The Donaldson P551313 is the best I have found. The filters didn't change, just the way they are rated. There are no 2um absolute filters on current NIST calibrations.
Donaldson and Cat use J1985 single pass filtration.

ok, I know its kind of old but im going to bring this up again, I'm installing the GDP universal kit with the FS1212 and FF5320 filters as well as leaving in the factory filter and am curious as to how the stock fuel pump likes pushing fuel through all 3 filters or if it is easier and better to install a lift pump at the same time?
thanks
