Injectors causing blowby?

Truck went into the dealership today and before it went in I was told I had the #5 cylinder down on compression. So going in I thought this was my blow by problem but today they didn't say anything about the low compression they told me I have 3 bad injectors, I think it was 2,4,and 6. Now I don't know what to think. Any suggestions?

Is the truck still under warranty? If not pull it out of there and get to a diesel shop. Are you burning alot of oil?

The oil intake works out to be about a quart every 500 miles or so. It still is on warranty but with mods its been taking some convincing to get them to use it.

If its burning oil like that then its probably, a burnt or cracked ring, or scorched cylinder wall, or cracked piston.

I have a freind with the same kind of problem, smokes blue, uses enough oil, runs really quite and smooth, he installed a new turbo but it did not change anything. Can these engines be worked on in frame, it is an 03 with 4x4.

I talked to the dealer again today and they said there was no loss of compression it was or is the (my mistake earlier I thought just 3) 4 injectors that are bad. He said he replace the injectors on warranty if I paid the labor. Any guess on how long it should take? Thanks

Why would you pay for the labor if it's warranty work?

Because it isn't really warranty work. This is just thanks for the business kind of deal.

Well it's amazing what can happen in a day. After they tell me I have 4 injectors gone I asked them to check the 1 thing I asked to check in the first place (the #5 cylinder). I get a coffee time phone call asking if they can pull the motor. shot. I guess that scanner doesn't tell you everything. 2nd time that cylinder has gone. Bad luck I'm having.

So you've had this motor rebuilt before("second time #5 went bad")? After having my motor rebuilt took it to get the injectors checked and at first they said #5 injector was dead, so they replaced it then said that it had a loss of compression in #5 cylinder. So took it back to where I got the rebuild and come to find out cummins had givin us the wrong head gasket, replaced gasket and went ahead and replaced rings on #5 and fixed problem(wasn't burning oil though, just slowly lose power). Still ended up having to replace all six injectors anyway though from a prior problem.
