injector replacement

Well the dreaded issue has arrived. Started running rough about three weeks ago. Only at first start up, once it reached full op temp it was fine. Until last saturday, wouldnt stop running rough. Took her in for diag, was told #5 is dead and #2 is 50%. She has 365k on her all original. Going to replace all 6.
Has anyone heard of dumping ATF in the fuel tank?
Any advise before I give the green light. Should I be looking AT something or FOR something else?
Any news good or bad would be extreemly helpfull!

If you are going to replace the injectors, don't put any atf in the tank. Sounds like its time to replace them. Look at new ones you can get them for around $330 each from Injectors direct.

Once you replace the injectors, I would highly recommend adding an after market lift pump, and upgrading the filtration system (Bosch recommends 2 micron while dodge supplies i believe 7micron or greater). 365k on original injectors is very good! What year is the truck? If it is a 04.5- 07 I wouldn't worry about an aftermarket lift pump unless your going to add a tuner etc. The factory liftpump on the 03- early 04 models that mounted to the fuel canister was mediocre at best. As for ATF I have no experience, but I used to add ashless two stroke oil when filling up. I have 40k on reman injectors with no additives and no issues thus far. just my .02.

She's an 05 and has ran awsome until last week. So you think i shouldn't worry about the lift pump then? I will change the filtration though to 2 micron. Not sure what injectors i will be getting. What do you guys think?

I would check your fuel pressure coming from your OEM pump and then weigh your options. I can't remember what the pressure should be at startup/idle but I think it was in the neighborhood of 10-12 psi at the fuel canister. Also, check these guys out for some injectors. They are the best of the best! http://www.exergyperformance.com/doc...y_products.pdf

ATF was something they did in the old days...however it is a nono with the modern ATF formulas. It now contains friction modifiers and stuff that is hard on injection systems...it is specifically made NOT to burn!
