Thumbs up I'm Done With BFG's

After a mere 23,601 miles by tires are done,,,,,,again! The previous set of tires lasted 25,000 miles. Both sets of tires were 285/70/17E BFG A/T. I am the only person who drives my truck and I have been doing rotations every 5,000 miles plus checking tire pressure at least once a month. Maybe my truck just hates BFG's but it is time for a change.

I have been buying tires at Discount Tire for some time now and they have always treated me fairly. The store manager looked at my tires today and gave me a $140 per tire credit on the BFG's. I ordered a set of Cooper ATP's load range E in the same size. They have a 55,000 mile warranty. They should be in next week. I hope these will last a little longer than the BFG's. I don't know if tires aren't what they used to be or the roads around my area are chewing up tires, but 2X,XXX miles isn't much to get out of tires.

This will be my first experience with Coopers. I was really torn today when I ordered tires, but I have been reading lots of negatives about most of the major tire brands out there.

Discount is a Nitto dealer also. The Duragrappler is highly rated if you don't need an AT.

i ran a set of bf goodrich ta/ko 285/70/17 for 50,000 miles before i had to replace them. i then moved up to 35 inch tires and a different brand. i have run these tires on several different vehicles and never had a problem. i am now due for new tires in the 35 inch size and thinking of bf goodrichs's buy hesitate of the death wobble stories-which is the reason i did not originally run them when i went to the 35 inch size-but the front end of my truck is all after market-so i dont know if i am safe or not

I gave up on bfgs years ago. Junk. They tend to chunk out really bad, wear quick. I've been running toyo open country ats since and love them. Right now on my Mega Cab I'm running 35" kumho road venture mts and am really happy so far. When these wear out though, I'll go back the toyos. I just wanted a really gnarly looking tire when I got my new wheels.

Sounds like it's too late but I do love my Dura grapplers! I have about 30k miles and are wearing very well. Should get to 60k pretty easy.

I do like the duragrapplers, but just not agressive enough for what I use the truck for. It may be mute point if we don't start getting some rain in Texas!

I have a set of BFG 285/70/17 TA-KO's on my '06 that are pushing 50,000 miles with plenty of tread on them and the only reason I want to replace them is because I bought them in 2007.

Maybe they changed the tire composition or something ... I'm looking at some of the offerings from Pro-Comp right now.

I'm wearing out a set of 285 E's pretty fast as well. My guess is that I will get a total of about 30,000 miles out of them.

I am on my first set of dura grapplers after running two sets of bfgs. They are awesome in the rain and very stable while towing. Although they are not as great as aired down 305 bfgs on the beach, they still work in the sand at 18-20 psi.

Dad had 285/75/16 on his '99 for a whie (will double check themiles) but he recently ad a blow out. It tore up the dside rear fender, wheel well liner and a few other things. Discount prorated and gave him credit for all the tires and he got a new set of Load E 285/75/16. They upsold him on some wheels too.

I was hoping to steer dad away from BFGs but he likes the darn things. Will keep tabs with him on how the Es go.

I replaced my stock BFG's at 70k miles. I bought 3 and put the spare on the ground. I marked it with a chrome valve cover so I could see how it lasted compared to the three new ones. The new ones and the original only lasted 38k miles. The driving on the original was a lot of freeway miles and towing but the next set was mostly on the curvy and chip sealed roads in NW Arkansas.

I now have a third set of BFG's on it now. Thought of changing to a diferent brand but I like the BFG's.
