I Smell Fuel?!

I Smell Fuel?!
A little history on my LITTLE leak. I bought this truck with some miles on it and did a good look over before signing. One of the things it had was the usual factory rustproofing leaks from the front case down along the oil pan rails and to the adapter plate at the rear of the engine. Degreased all of this, rinsed off, then brake cleaned all of the under body to make it dry. Rode a couple of weeks, then went back under for another look. Same mess but lots less. No dripping, just wet.
Degrease and brake clean again. All dry once more. This time only a couple of days later, I look again and can narrow the leaks to the lower front half of the engine(crank seal, p/s pump or reservoir, fuel pump access plug or water pump). Checking oil level often enough to be sure it's not fuel in the crankcase. Pull dipstick from p/s reservoir and brake clean the vent in the cap, thinking to much pressure or too much fluid. Then I changed the oil, normal interval, drove the truck about an hour,to get it good and warm. Parked it nose down into a ditch to force a crank leak if it was to be so. Nothing there. Still getting dirty wet film all over p/s pump. Brake cleaned all off again and waited a couple of more days.
Now I have wet spots as big as my hands on the driveway. Not puddles, just wet spots. P/s pump is covered wet and smell of fuel like my filler cap is off. CP3 must be the cause. Call my tech friend and he describes that the pumps are clear coated with the motors before the fuel lines are attached, and that over time the clear breaks down and the seals are by-passed by the fuel. Tells me to look for wetness around the lines. Nothing there. Pump is leaking from somewhere that is not visible. It's soaking the crank sensor and the fan clutch connector. Fuel smell wasn't there until a few days ago. Now it's very strong.
It is going into the shop on tuesday. Today is thursday. This is just a post to provide info to others who may have similar leaks. I will post back ASAP when we get this in the shop. I'm so very curious.....

The oil leak may be the CP3 accessory plug. I had that problem with my 06 after 1 month.
Like Spooler said, the fuel leak is probably the CP3. After all the reading I have done and experience with it happenign to my last 2 CTD's, I can tell you it is a seasonal thing. When things get cold, these threads start popping up. I know first hand that the dealer is typically very skeptical about replacing the CP3, because they know why it leaks as well. Do a search for Rich2500's fix. It is a fix for this particular problem.
