Just like the title says, I did it. I have preached to my wife for 20 years about paying attention at the pump, and then I did it myself, no excuses, just never paid attention.

That stinks! Did you drain it out before driving it, or did you try running it?

Suck out as much as you can then fill it with diesel and a couple bottles of ashless 2-stroke oil. Change the fuel filter in 100 miles or so. It should be fine so long as you haven't driven very far.

Lotsa folks seem to be having this probelm recently I think your post makes four in the last few weeks.

Doh! I haven’t done that yet, but I’m sure my day is coming. So what did you after?

What I did is pulled the fill neck hose off the tank and used a oil changer pump to pump out all I could, then pulled the filter and cycled the lift pump a few times till nothing came out. Then put 10 gallons of DIESEL in the tank and cycled lift pump again till straight diesel came out, re installed filter, fired it up and drove to town to fuelit all the way up. After I topped off tank, I put a quart of snowmobile oil in and half a quart of Power service. All seems well.

Funny thing though, I had an appointment at the dealer the next day for some warranty stuff--tranny hunting between first and second, front pinion seal leaking, but when I was going to town, the brake light and the ABS light came on. Dealer called later and said I needed new valve body and right side wheel speed sensor. Musta just been coincident on the ABS thing. I also printed out the TSB for the governor pressure solenoid valve and showed it to them, but they insisted on a whole new valve body? Go figure.

I did that once. At a BP station one morning. Their handles for gas are green, so I wasn't paying enough attention. Luckily I realized it before I started it. I took the ride of shame to dealer in a tow truck . Oh well, happens to the best of us.

That's why I carry two gallons of TCW3/ND30w just for when that day occurs. I hope it never happens.....

Maybe put a small sticker on your gas cap for diesel or something as a reminder. every time you go to fill up you'll see it and remember

Did this a few years back. Paid about $240 for a guy to pump all the fuel he could out of the tank, filled it up with diesel put in a pint of Power Service and never looked back. I figured I got off cheap compared to paying a dealer or the possible damage if I had started the engine. I now have over 71,000 miles on the truck and no problems at all.

I carry my own pump now so if it happens again I won't have to pay somebody to do it for me.

I think it's time for an intervention! Sounds like you may be a gas huffer!

A friend did that last summer with his D-max motorhome. Fortunatly he had a drain plug on the bottom of the tank. Used the leveling stabilizers to jack it up high enough to slide his coleman cooler under. Filled that up then poured it into gas containers purchased at the hardware store next to the gas station.

Took about 3hrs and lots of containers! He won't make that mistake again any time soon.
