I have two of the dumbest parts managers ever

I called both of my local dodge dealerships for the seals that go on the front and rear differentials of my 2006..... I know their reusable but new ones wouldnt hurt...... Both dealerships tell me their is no seal, and I SHOULD USE RTK sealant........ What gives I know 05's have a reusable seal, do the 06's or am I the dumb one......... Should I use the sealant with the seal if there is one??????????

There is a seal and it is reusable, no extra sealant needed. Just be sure to clean off the seals to ensure there is no debris that could cause a leak.

I use their fluids in my trans and transfer case. Love the stuff. Will put it in the diffs if I ever get around to changing it

And do what, reward their stupidity with a parts order?
I'm sure some one else's parts shop would ship you parts.

i'm using RP in both front and rear diffs. The only problem I have is when it is cold I get a little shudder from the rear diff on turns from a stop. Once it is warm though no problems. I am assuming the problem is the limited slip needing the additive that I didn't put in because the manual says not to.

Lol no I'm not going to order them anymore, not after they told me they dont have them just wanted to prove them wrong.............The guy at RP told me it has an additive already so shudder shouldnt be a problem but then again he works their.......

Rear Diff.

Cowboy133, I use the RP 75/140 in the rear of my 3500, 5000 miles so far and no problems. Changed it at 3000 miles and cleaned/reused the factory gasket with no leaks or seepage. The limited-slip rear diff. uses helical cut gears that make both axles turn when there is about a 2 to 1 slip ratio similar to a True-Trac, well exactly like one. No clutches or anything that require any special additives.

CDoskocil9 -

FWIW, the 2nd gen trucks did not have a gasket. You used RTV to reseal the diff covers.
The 3rd gens obviously have a gasket. No need for RTV.

Perhaps the parts managers were confused??

I concerns me that a parts manager would mistake an 06 model for a 2nd generation truck. I guess he could of thought a 96?

One more reason it pays to know your vehicle.
