I have an owl in my truck....

I just bought a brand new 05 off the lot, one that was still around with about 10 others. Anyways, it has about 2500 miles on her so far and when it is cold and I am driving slow around 19-20 mph and let off the pedel it makes a funny noise. Almost sounds like an owl or a big trucks brakes. Whoooo, whhoooo it goes. Sound like maybe the tranny ringing but I am not sure. can anyone shed some light on this. (NOTE) It does not do this once the truck has been warmed up. Only first thing in the morning or when has had time to cool down.

Tow/haul on or off? It sounds like what mine does when I am slowing down while towing my trailer - almost like a quiet Jake Brake.

Tow/haul Off

The tow haul is off and it only does it when cold. What about your cold only or all the time?

Usually all the time. I notice it mainly when I am slowing down to get off the highway on an exit ramp. It could be that you notice it more because the engine is still cold & may be a bit more sluggish. Was the sound I described similar to what you are experiencing?

The owl was an option early in 05. You must have got it and didn't even know it.

If I'm not mistaken this has been reported several times in the past.It was the driveshaft mid bearing.Do a search on hoot owl or owl noise.Once it warms up with heat the noise goes away.Think repair was a new mid shaft bearing/mount.

04 305 555 long box 2wd

Very common "problem".
Had the hanger bearing replaced...helped for a bit..then returned.
Still there when cold....doesn't bother me anymore...but bird seed getting expensive.

I think that driveshaft thing was on the older models, if I'm not mistaken. I'm guessing what he's hearing may be the tc locked up. On his, it might be more noticeable when the truck is still cold. I dunno. I'm out of ideas - time for the dealer to work his warranty wand.

Don't think it is a TC issue either as I never ordered that option and prefer to not have that option....I also have the nosie and have just ignored it. In my opinion unless it changes or gets worse then it isn't a major concern at this time.
