How to tell???

I just bought me a 3rd gen and when i get on it after taking off it spits out a vwery little haze of black smoke how do i tell if there is a chip or programmer on it??? help would be appreciated

take a look at the map and fuel pressure sensors(mounted on intake, drivers side, 2 black sensors) if there are a few connectors pigtailed together, chip. as far as a downloader, cant tell with out another downloader. hope you dont have a downloader, cause you'll need the exact same one that installed the program into your truck to go back to stock.
a slight haze is normal for a stock truck when you drop the hammer.

everything looks factory under the hood. i am just wanting to know this because there is still warrentry left on the motor and i dont want the dealership to find anything in there

ok one last question, could i hook it up to a diagnostic computer and mabye that will tell me?

Just a thought. You could go dyno it for about $50.00 or so. If it dyno's more than 280 hp or about 520 ft. lbs tq then it probably has some sort of downloader on it.

Even stock, some of the trucks will still smoke some. My guess is it is stock.
