I scrounged up a piece of 5" Schedule 40 PVC from a local water well driller, cut it to 7". It has an outside diameter of 5.5" and fits tight. It only slightly increases turbo noise. I left the silencer ring in. It may be my imagination but the EGTs seem to be slightly lower because the cool down at stops seems shorter now.

I just pulled the plastic tube out, got my sawzall with an 8" blade and cut the baffles where they meet. The baffles are two pieces notched together. If you run the sawzall through the center you will get 4 pieces that will fold up and pull out. If you do it carefully enough you can reinstall and glue if you want to in the future. Be sure to use a wood or bimetal blade in the sawzall so the abs plastic doesn't gum up the teeth.
