Eric, this is copied out of the service manual I have for my 04. They use the same tranny. Did you get your +3 out of the tranny?
"AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Service Fill - 48RE 3.8 L (4.0 qts.)
O-haul - 48RE 14-16L (29-33 pts.) L
Service Fill - 45RFE/545RFE
4X2 - 5.2 L (11.0 pts.)
4X4 - 6.2 L (13.0 pts.)
O-haul - 45RFE/545RFE 14-16 L (29-33 pts.) L
L Dry fill capacity Depending on type and size of
internal cooler, length and inside diameter of cooler
lines, or use of an auxiliary cooler, these figures may
vary. (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/AUTOMATIC/

is that 29-33 PTS supposed to be QTS as in quarts??? i havent gotten it flushed yet, but i posted something in the help thread stating that a guy at an auto parts store tried to sell me an additive that i could put in my tranny that would turn the 6-7 qts of atf+3 into an atf+4. any thoughts on this??? thanks for the reply, i appreciate it

Nope its pints, 14-16 liters or 29-33 pints. I double checked the file and that is what it reads. 3.625 gallons of oil.
As far as the +4/+3 thing, I personally would not do it!!!! You're already in a mire, no need to turn this oil into some kind of milky mess. That's just my opion, you can't turn water to wine and I personally don't think you can turn +3 into +4.
It's just an opinion, I can't back this up with facts, sorry!

I would have serious concerns about a "additive" that would change +3 to +4. I am getting ready to service my trans, and have not checked pricing on lubes but I cannot Imagin the +4 being that much more than the +3. Also I wonder if DC would give you warentee issues with the additive mixed with +3 fluid? Just my .02

You will need approximately 4.5 gallons of ATF+4. Don't use the ATF+3 with a modifier. ATF+4 is a synthetic oil and that is what you should use. I only know of 2 places to get the stuff, DC and AMSOIL ATF are thonly ones that I know of right now. DC wants an arm and a leg and AMSOIL wants $7.85 qt or $74.55 for 2.5 gal.
I use AMSOIL and had the dealer do the flush & use my AMSOIL ATF.
