How many miles on the stock airfilters?

I've got 26k miles on my 2006 and the airfilter is still in the good range?

Ignore the gauge and just change it how often?

The Filter minder is pretty good. I reset it when I change oil or check the oil. It should go up to where it last a few days later. It really won't move much until the very end of the filters life. If you feel better changing on a mileage schedule, make something up for yourself. The filters can look horrible but still be filtering well and flowing well.

I'd agree with the above. I don't think you can tell much of anything by looking at a filter.

If you drive mostly paved roads, I'd think the air filter would go 30,000 or better, or until the filter minder says its shot, whichever comes first.

Well I changed it and it was NAAAAAAASTY. Completely black with bugs galore attached. The foam insert doesn't come off the stock filter and the new Fram/STP's didn't have it? Either way I'm doing 12k from now on...I do a lot of firetrails when camping.

I run 15,000-20,000 on Napa Gold 2846 air filters. My filter minder never moves.

I have gone threw 14 air filters in 43,000 miles. I change them when the gauge gets close to the red.

I put 22281 on mine and I could still see day light through it in many places but I still replaced it just because it was 2.5 years old. What every you do don't buy Fram filters as they are Junk and you don't want to be using cheap filters on your truck or you may pay more later on because of it.

As for the filter minder its junk too as I pulled mine in to the red zone when the truck was new and less then 1,000 miles on it. Heck during the first 5K any time I put my foot into it the darn thing would go to the red zone and after that it would only pull it just to the start of the yellow zone.

My self I can't see changing the air filter 14 times in 43K, about every 3100 miles that is unless you drive on some very dirty, dusty roads all of the time.

75k miles on my first airfilter. All highway miles. The truck is stock except for gauges. Expected to see a change in the performance but could see no change in the gauges or could not feel any differance in the output of the engine.
The filter appeared to be very dirty but was otherwise in good shape. The filter minder never went into the red.

A waste of money to change it to often. The air filter is not like an oil filter with a bypass if it becomes clogged. There will only be a loss in in boost pressure and a loss in power if the filter starts to become clogged.

the filter minder is a simple vacuum gauge used to measure pressure change across the filter.
in our filteration systems there are two major variables that affect the pressure change across any given filter:
how ditry the filter is, and
the VOLUME of air being pulled across the filter!!!
basically if you are running more boost than stock you are increasing the VOLUME of air being pulled across the filter and it should be pulling the filter minder down to the yellow or red...

if your stock rely on it, they work...my trucks run 20-30k before the minder starts to move
if modded just add air filters to your maintance log (you do keep one dont you???) and change every 10k or sumthin'

I run a BHAF and change it at 50k. It still looks good but I feel like 'why take a chance'. Truck is driven mostly on paved roads

My filters have no been lasting very long, must be dusty here, 42k miles on truck and I have changed out 5 filters so far in the last 30k miles, all were pulling the filter minder in. A new clean filter doesnt pull it in if anyone needs to ask.

I don't trust the filter minder all that much being I can pull it in to the red zone with a new filter if it hit the go pedal to hard!
