How long will the CTD last?

No sleeves in a 5.9. Yes they do rebuild them. You can even buy a reman from cummins. I think I would rebuild my motor before getting a new one. The cummins is well worth the money but the cummins company is very proud of their little 5.9. I read on here that a new 5.9 is approx $14K. Ouch.

A very expensive engine to overhaul but very few are even tired at 300000 as long as oil is changed and EGT's were kept in check . I am afraid that all guys putting boxes and bigger turbo's will ruin our 5.9 's reputation some and decrease it's life expectancies . As long as a diesel starts good and oil pressure looks good just keep the hammer down .

I guess on how long they last before getting expensive would be if you want to wait for the warranty to end before MODDING them...
I know people that start dumping $$ into them right away, which in my eyes seem expensive (twins, exhaust, you name it).
But in truth, I'm thinking about 350,000 or more miles. And if you maintain the truck well, probably even a lot more then that with normal maintenance.
