How long the clutch last on a non modified truck???

My 2004.5 is approaching the 150K mark and I would like to know how much longer before I need to change out the clutch on the 6-speed manual trans.

it all depends on how you drive the truck. my uncle has 213K mi on an original clutch, pulling his 5th wheel camper since they bought the truck. i've also seen some go out under 100K. you wont need to change the clutch until it starts slipping.

Just put a new clutch in my truck at 125K. The clutch still had plenty of life but the Dual mass flywheel was done.....

My clutch is still going strong with about 85K Miles on it, with most of those miles having the Smarty installed.

My uncle has about 400,000 miles on his stock clutch with added power on his '02 and if he hasn't abused his truck no one has. He's broken 2 Reece 5th wheel hitches because of the weight and the logging roads that he is always on.

I'd say it all depends on how you drive the truck, if you slip it at all taking off and the loads that you pull as well as the roads that you travel. I believe that a clutch should last almost as long as the vehicle if driven properly.

I've killed a new clutch in less than 15 feet before, of course that was along time ago, so as said, depends.....and yes, tires CAN get hot enough to melt into the concrete and yank a 2 foot hunk of curb up with it. That was at least 30 years ago and the black mark is still visible in front of my parents house.

My stock clutch started slipping in SW2 towing a 6k load up a 6% grade in fifth. So I don't do that any more. That was 40k miles ago. Now at 70k, the clutch is fine unless the boost gets to 30+ with the RPM more than 2K.

I'll baby it along a while yet. Have other things to buy.

I went 230K on mine. I do a lot of highway empty but also pull my 27' travel trailer several times in the summer. It would have went another 30k without too much trouble. .Changed it out for a SBC DD3250. Haven't pulled too much yet but the DD seems pretty grabby.

Mine started slippin under WOT back in Jan. Not all the time, just sometimes. Its replacement was delivered to my door yesterday, and I'll install it weekend after this when I have the time. I'll do my last two U-Joints (front shaft) at the same time to complete the first replacement of the original joints. 185,000 miles, maybe 50,000 or so towing the Fox from CA to; Coldfoot, Jacksonville NC, New Orleans, Black Hills, W Edmonton Mall (wife trip), Roswell (um... wife trip too, yeah, that's it, wife trip too), and heading to Inuvik in July.

That reminds me...
I got some of my best MPG driving with a weak/slipping clutch (because I babied it along).
