synthetic oils in gear cases

will synthetic oils dissipate heat better than conventional oils in transmission(6spd) and transfer cases

I don't think synthetic oils dissipate heat better but they can tolerate higher temps for longer periods of time than conventional dino oil. What synthetics will do is reduce friction so that will help lower the temps.

I have been a Marine Engineer for 38 years and I can hold my hand on a bearing that is 140o max. You should be fine if you can hold your hand on it, some heat is good keeps the water out.
I would say you are 130-140 which is ok

clifford, you CAN hold 140 degrees?

Also if you have been a marine engineer for 38 years I would say your hands could stand more heat than mine, I have only go 22 years of wear on mine so they aint as hard as I wold like.

thank you for your info, and just to make sure, I could hold the trans for maybe 3 seconds and that was all I could take.

125-150 degrees farenheit (I am a diesel engine mechanic at Detroit Diesel as a second job.) is what the temperatures should run at even at extreme conditions.

I guess I will get a temp gun and see after a hard pull what the temp is on the outside.
