Iv had mine in for about 5000 miles.
This past weekend I was doing some tinkering under the hood and pulled it off to see what condition it was in.
It looked like I had just installed it.

Thanks!! Did either of you do UOA's to see if it is keeping everything out of the engine like it is designed? Thanks!

If it is clean does that mean it is not holding dirt. I would like to see my air filter as dirty as possible. The engine is still taking in the same amount of air/dirt so why would they stay clean unless it is letting dirt pass.

Any thoughts?

I installed my Amsoil filter at my first oil change-5K. I do oil analysis with every change-5K. My silicone level was high at my first oil change using the stock filter. It was a great amount less on the second oil change with the Amsoil filter, and has remained lower with subsequent oil changes. I clean it at every oil change, I am at 20K, the filter still looks like new and is doing it's job. I live in very dusty driving conditions on highways in my area. My road off the pavement to my driveway is several miles of dirt/gravel, make an enormous dust cloud at 25-30 mph. I am very satisfied with the filter, very satisfied.

I don't have my reports handy at this time, but the numbers DO speak loudly about the performance of the filter.

Thanks, thats what I was looking for! I don't like to hap hazardly install something based on literature alone... I installed mine at 1,000 miles when I did my first oil change.. I will do a UOA at probably 4,000 as I want to change the oil one more time after break in at 3,000 miles on the oil. THen every 5,000 as the above poster said..

I'm a fan of amsoil but would not use there ea filter again. I had mine implode with only about 10kmi on it. I have gutted stock intake with a 4 inch hole in the bottom. Driven mostly hwy miles I cleaned it when the minder first came down seemed to clean ok but after reinstall minder was all the way down again. I ordered an S&B intake when it came in I started the install and opened up the air cleaner lid to find the ea filter bulging up in the middle. The pleats where sucked out of shape on the bottom and the whole thing bubbled in the middle. Very lucky I did not suck anything through the turbo. I'm thinking it got wet and thats what caused the implosion, the last drive was in pouring rain at 75 not the fliters fault. But long story short less than impressed.

I've had mine on for around 6k, cleaned it at 5k and it looked great. Just tapped it on the bumper to knock loose any dirt at all and it looked great. I'm also running an Outerwear filter cover....really helps out!

Loving my filter right now!

Which Amsoil filter are you running w/ your S&B? Also, if you have a part# for the Outerwear, I'd appreciate it.

CD in NM- What was your silicone PPM?

Thanks!

I have had a stock filter get sucked up into the top of the box, I'm thinking of putting in the AFE drop in filter that is dry and cone shape. I would think because of it's shape it will be less prone to being sucked in.
