Does anyone have the TSB/ Process on how to enable fast idle using cruise control. My dealer does not know and is researching himself. I am having TSB 037 done and want to get this done at the same time.

 

I have been trying to do this for almost a year now. I have asked at least 5 dealers. I don't think it can be done on our 04's.

 

It is super easy. I had it done yesterday along with the flash (18-037-04).

If they follow the instructions for the High Idle TSB (can't remember # - easily found on this site by searching), all they have to do is enable it.

It works awesome.

 

what is your rpm at idle after warmup?

 

I have the list of tsb's but do not find the words "High Idle" in a tsb. I find rough, drone, idle. No high idle.

 

The TSB # is: 18-004-04. If you have the mileage flash, you have the latest software. If you have the 04.5, w/o flash, you can still enable it. You just look at the instructions on the 18-004-04 TSB - and skip the re-programming software part - and follow them it will work. I watched the guy do it, and he just selected "ENABLE" under the appropriate menu.

And to answer the question: when you use the high-idle function (engine temperature has no bearing), it will idle at 1100 RPM, and can be adjusted up to 1500.

 

and to add on to csxt665 answer, the tsb is for poor cab heat and slow engine warm up.

DO I have to take it to the dealer where I bought my truck to get this stuff done? There is one 15 miles away versus the 80 miles away where I bought the pickup. Should I take off my Air Raid MIT first?

 

I had it done as well...works great, now I can let it idle without worrying.

 

Absolutley not. I bought my truck from a dealer an hour away because of price. The dealer 15 mins from me is happy to do my service. (and take my money). He does all my warranty work.

 

The TSB wont work with the 6spd trucks, if you even have one.

 

Had 18-004-04 done Monday. Works like a champ on the `05s.

 

Why don't they just enable it as they come from the factory?? It seems kind of silly to have to get the dealer to activate it........I will try for my thinrd time next week.

 

I had it done today also when they did the reflash.....it works like a charm
