How do you reflash....

Can you re-flash the computer yourself at home or does it have to be done at the ***********? If you can whaich I think I've read it here before, how do you do it? And is it a safe thing to do at home?

Thanks

The re-flash must be done at the dealer. There are aftermarket programers that you can use to change many of the things a dealer can do, like tire size, accessory on delay, etc..., but the actual ECM flashes are dealer only.

Does it haved to be reflashed at dodge dealer? or can I take it to the local cummins dealer. I would rather pay the cummins dealer, then take it back to dodge for free. I trust people I know, now the guys at cummins in town.

Pretty sure only the dealer can do the reflashes. If you know the guys at Cummins in your town, give them a call to find out.

I could be wrong but I can't see Cummins doing it, it is thier engine but not thier programing.

I know the stock program is saved in the Bully dog programer but I have heard there are still bits left in the ECU from BD like cookies in a CPU. With the cost of fuel and worring about the transmission issues with the 48re I just want to go back to a stock ECU. With the other items I added it seems just enough for me. And since adding and removing the program from BD my MPG has gone down some. I cannot afford to replace a tranny just to go a little faster and more tourqe. Thats what my other toy is for - heres a picture.....talk about speed and tourqe

Very cool. I bet you can really supprise a lot of people with that thing. I built a sleeper 62 nova a few years back that looked VERY stock and was quiet......Until the go pedal was put to the floor. After that, people just saw the rear bumper.

You remind me of a 1965 Plymouth Belvedere I saw Friday that was stock including the 426 Hemi under the hood with a Hurst 4 speed. That thing was nice and quite and you could not tell it had such a big engine under the hood, that is until he hit the gas pedal and then all hell would break lose. Oh he even had skinny tires on the stock steel rims along with stock hubcaps
