How do I know if my turbo is goin out
My trucks been making a wierd noise lately will driving. The sound seems to be coming from the turbo area. It sounds like the turbo is constantly being barked (air fluttering sound). Turbo builds boost fine and the spine has no play. More noticable while driving with a load and the T/C locked

start the truck and let it idle and touch the intake side of the charger see if there is a vibration that matches the sound that is how i could tell when mine was going out and have someone hit the throttle pedal and see if it gets worse
just dont stick a finger in the turbo fin

The noise you speak of sounds more like a pressure air leak. Tighten all flex intercooler hose clamps. Inspect for damage at same time.
WITH ENGINE NOT RUNNING, pull air tube off turbo. Look at impeller. Has it been running against side of housing? With fingers, can you move it and touch housing with a click? Does it have appriciable end play? Very slight movement is normal.
