High Tranny Temp
I changed my tranny fluid and filter a couple of weeks ago and replaced it with Amsoil. I have a temp gauge with the probe in the cooler line and a PML deep transmission pan.
I noticed that my tranny temp has INCREASED when pulling my 5ver (especially in traffic). I was getting temps anywhere from 220* to 260* while in traffic even though I was in the tow/haul mode . Once I got out on the highway, the temp would go down to 190*, but increased again once I started up an upgrade. I didn't notice any change in the way the tranny shifts. Any ideas as to why I'm seeing this increase?

Amsoil
I use their trans fluid, have no problems with it. Should not be going over 180 degrees, I have a mopar-Horton fan, works on Auto, also have a manual switch for stop and go traffic, also in stop and go traffic good to go to nuertal and the pump will work, Im running a custom built Suncoast trans full billet TQ and flex plate! Summit racing catalog has several fan powers trans coolers also.

Well, TH mode on your truck is just OD lockout and not a very good lockup strategy on the TC from what I hear. If you were in slow-n-go traffic then the TC probably never locked and stock TC towing is very sloppy and hot. Those temps are pretty normal for what you describe though.
If you think the temps jumped, change back to ATF+4. It could be such a things your trans does not like the fluid.

I am using Amsoil Universal ATF. My temp probe is in the hot line going to the cooler. Here in San Antonio with afternoon air temps at or slightly above 100'F in stop-n-go traffic I have seen my tranny temps go as high as 200'F but not over ... yet. On highway they settle back down to to 150'F to 160'F. Only thing I can suggest is ensure your cooler is not blocked from air flow and is clean and not plugged with dirt or bugs. Every once in a while here we get great flocks of very low flying little brown butterflies... A low pressure garden hose sprayed through might clear the fins.

i would think that maybe with the new fluid you sucked something through and maybe blocked your check ball remove that thing and youll be all right. it is a ball in one of the lines on the drivers side that restricts flow.
