High speed idle
I have only one problem with my 03 when it is cold like now around 25 when I start the engine it will go straight to the high speed idle..
Could someone help on how I could stop this and yes the brake pedal was mash down..
I did not plug it in lastnight would that help me?

My manual trans truck does the same thing if it's below +30 degrees.
Plugging in should keep it from high idle as the engine would already be warm. Although I did drive a 04 that would high idle even with a warm engine that had been driven many miles after the truck had stood idling for more than a minute.

I love that high speed idle but not when it starts up, the engine should idle 2 mins. before it kicks in..Mine is not, goes straight in that mode..
Is that normal? can something be done so the 2 min. warm up will happen first?

Why wait two minutes? Depends on how cold it is.On my tractor I wait just a second or two and bump it up to 1100 or so.Helps keep it from wet stacking and better burn of cold diesel fuel.I bump my 03 up by foot after it fires up withen a second or two.Big diesels generators in chicken houses around here fire up once a month as a maintance and go to WIDE open upon startup! Ought to be near one and have this happen. Its like WOW! From dead silence to WIDE open in a 2 second time frame with no ill affects on them.
