high oil pressure
Anyone know what would cause high (75 psi) oil pressure all the time? This is with a mechanical gauge in the spare port on the oil filter head. I have pulled the regulator spring and shuttle out and all seems fine there. Oil samples are good. I'm not too concerned, but I see others with varying oil pressure from idle to full load.

THe gauge is OK. It zeros when the engine is turned off. The gauge is not on permanently, I have it set up with quick connect to snap it on when I want to. The 'problem' is that the oil pressure is always at the relief pressure when the engine is running.
Since I am not using / losing oil or blowing seals, I don't think having 75 psi oil pressure is really a problem, I was just curious if anyone knew possible reasons for it.

Does your quick disconnect have a check valve? Is there a kink in the oil pressure line to the gauge?
I thought I had an oil pressure problem; wound up being the sending unit. Yes, I have electric gauges.
Cold...60-80psi, depending on RPM's
Hot, idle...12-20psi, depending on load
Hot, 2500rpm....45-55psi, depending on load
