Exclamation high idle for manual trans.

if you have a manual trans & it makes you that you can't have the cruise control activated high idle, I'm taking a poll here: http://dieselram.com/cgi-bin/ultimat...;f=29;t=004789 after a few days of voting I'll email the results to Dodge, doubt it will help but we can try.

You'd probably get a better vote result if you just posted the poll here.

Wooden stick notwithstanding, I've been looking for a cost effective (not incredibly expensive) high idler since November 2002.

Do the poll and submit your results, but don't hold your breath.

Is there any "high idle" feature that can be enabled by the dealer on the manual trans truck like on my old 02 auto?

Yep...I tried to vote and couldn't because I wasn't a member there (and I don't intend to become one).

To the one person who answered "NO", would you mind explaining why?? I can't imagine why anyone would NOT want this option.

Exclamation

Why do you need a high idle? It's cheaper to wear mittens and shut the truck off once in a while. Mine starts just great in the morning buried in snow at -15F without being plugged in. It also doesn't cool down so much after it's hot that a high idle is needed to get the cab warm again. This isn't your grandpa's diesel anymore. Do you just want something else to play with?

It isn't just a winter toy; the high idle also works wonderful in the summertime to keep the cab chilled if its occupied and you're not rolling down the road.

also, if you read your manual, it says long idle times should be avoided in extreme cold, because of low cylinder temps, which are detremental to injectors & cylinders, a high idle feature can help avoid these problems

High idle is still idle and should be avoided in cold weather. As long as you have healthy batteries you should just shut it down.

Made a "high tech" stick today out of 1/2" pvc. Put a 1/2" bull plug on each end and a threaded male/female coupler in the middle for adjustments. Works pretty dang well. Place on end on the go peddle and the other end on the center seat cushion, adjust by tightening or loosening the coupler. Man, modern technology, what will they think of next?
