High Idle in gear
Hi everbody. I'ts my first time posting, and I would greatly appreciate any help. My truck has 95k on it and its having some issues. It starts and idles at 800rpm like always, but when I put it in gear it starts building a lot of torgue. I have to push pretty hard on the brake to hold the truck back. When I release the brake the truck surges forward and then resumes 800rpm and slowly rolls down the street. I then push down the accelerator and it responds sluggishly as it climbs up in speed. The temp is ok and the exhaust smoke is clear. Some codes have popped up.
P0243 Wastegate Pressure Control PWM
P2509 Powerdown Data Lost Error
I pulled out the wastegate solenoid and applied 12volts. It clicked lightly.
Does anyone have a better way to test the solenoid or what my overall problem might be? Thanks George
I've been promoted to mechanic since no one needs a builder

Sounds like your Torque Converter has come apart internally causing it to be engaged in gear. Fill out your signature in the CP section so we will know what you have.

Thanks Spooler for responding. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this forum stuff. I already took it to a transmission shop and they said it wasnt the problem. Any other ideas?

Go to another transmission shop, that bunch doesn't have a clue.
The sprag cluthc in the TC has locked and you now have a no stall converter. Typical failure and any trans shop worth dealing with will know that.
Keeping looking until you find one that has some ability to diagnose a simple problem.

That's what is going on. To keep from stalling the truck the ECM give it more fuel. That's why the manual trucks are very hard to stall. Do a search on here for modded trannies. Lots of good reading and knowledge. Most notable are Goerend, DTT,etc. I am unsure who is in your area that is reputable. Take your time on finding the right shop. It will make you or break you.
