Talking High Idle and Death Wobble

Ok Guys,

I am not new to Dodge CTD or their trucks. I purchased a 2006 off a lot from a dealership a couple of weeks ago. Part of my deal was the High Idle Enable, Block Heater Cord and a couple of recalls being taken care of. Well to make a long story short the Block Heater Cord came from Dodge missing parts so no install today. I said its just a cord and a couple of clips but the tech said it was missing parts.
The High Idle - After giving the tech the TSB he insisted that it was not avaib. for my truck. I told him that it is avaib for the truck but he could not find it and he said the TSB I gave him does not come back to this truck either. So no High Idle today.
I also have a bad problem with the Death Wobble. The truck is going to shake apart its so bad. I have tried changing air pressure and rotated the tires no luck. The tech checked the front end and said everything was in spec. ( In Spec ) thats all he said.

So what I need is some help from you guys that know the technical terms and howto to get these items corrected.
1. What procedures do I tell the tech when I go back to have the High Idle Enabled? How does he do it. The only thing he said he saw was for a manual trans. What instruction does the tech need for the star scan tool?

2. The Death Wobble. I have researched the site and see something about camber but dont understand what to tell them at the dealership. This is a bad problem as I do not want to give my wife this truck and let her drive it until this issue is fixed. Its really bad.

The truck is listed below. I really hope someone can help me and thank you for all your help.

Sorry to hear he cant do a simple 5 minuet job to turn on the high idle. I wish I had the full details on how to do it so you could give him this info. As for the block heater cord all it has is a screw ring on the end that goes to the heater and some do have clips that fit in the trucks frame to hold it in place as its routed along the frame to the front, so I wonder whats missing.

Good luck with the death Wobble problem that I've heard about on the Mega and some Long bed trucks, but its never happen on my Quad Cab, Thank God.

I'd make sure the dealership knew how bad the DW was by taking the manager or tech for a ride so they can experience it. Then tell them if it isn't fixed and something happens, they'll be hearing from your attorney.

I dont belive the high idle is a TSB it is an option that needs to be "enabled" with their scan tool. Some dealers will charge for it some dont. Mine charged me $26 but oh well I love the feature. Dont know much about DW, thank goodness my truck doesn't have it (yet). BTW the first truck I test drove had a slight shimmy getting off the freeway and the salesman said it was the road and even their Viper would shimmy at that same spot...BS...
Now I know better, glad I didn't buy that truck.

I think it is a TSB(not to argue). IF you tell them that you are not getting enough heat in the cab after start-up, it is something they can do to help(a bit). If on the other hand you just tell them you would like it "done" then they may charge you for the flash.

I just had the high idle and the accessories on after key off till door open done. Dealer did both and didn't charge a dime. I had them do it when they did the 15K mile service. Took the tech all of 5 minutes to do it.

Not trying to argue back but...You are correct that it is a TSB but only for trucks that have an engine build date of 12-10-03 and earlier. So for the rest of us it is not a TSB but an option that we can elect to have turned on. And yes, every dealer is different, some charge some dont (mine did).

Refer the dealer to tsb 22-005-06 for your dw issue.

From my 2006 Owner's Manual. - Page 262
"NOTE: An optional driver-controlled high idle speed is available on automatic transmission equipped vehicles with speed control. This feature allows the driver to select an elevated idle speed between 1100 and 1500 rpms. Your dealer can enable this feature."

Tie rods, steering damper and tire pressure. I'd be all over them to fix your DW, or find you another truck.
