Hesitation/stutter at 12mph

Starting last night, I get a hesitation at exactly 12mph (ok, maybe 13) under a light throttle. It's very noticeable in parking lots and such. If I keep it at that speed, the stutter continues. When taking off from a stoplight, the stutter happens just once at 12mph or so and that's it. If I hammer down on it, there is no stutter. It's not enough for it to noticeably drop the rpm's either. Also, it doesn't happen in any other gear, just first.

Everything on the gauges reads just fine. I do still have the original stock lift pump (I know, I know but even w/ Smarty on 8 and my Banks on 6, the fuel pressure doesn't ever get lower than 2psi). Oh, and I just replaced the fuel filter this morning and nothing changed.

So, anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

So, I just checked the codes and the only thing I got was p0521 for the oil pressure switch. However, I don't think that would cause the stutter.... right?

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply however, this is definitely something w/ the engine.

It feels as if the fuel is being cut to the engine but only at a certain speed.

Hmm.... Is there a way to check the injectors w/o replacing them?

Anyone else have any other ideas?

Actually, I've got a 47RE. They have the same issue, I assume?

Man, this would be a heck of a stretch to justify a new tranny.

I don't think you would need a new one... I know many people have had success with adding an aftermarket (non-Chrysler) Sensor and Solenoid. I will be doing that change on my next service... and maybe more because I have to fix a rear seal leak.

There is also a shift kit many have installed to build stronger line preasure to prevent this shuttle shift issue. My tranny guy told me to just do the sensor and solenoid if I wanted a nice smooth shift, because the shift kit would get rid of the shuttle problem, but because of the increased preasure would result in hard shifts... So it's up to you and what you want.

The Sensor and Solenoid (after market) is less than $100 total and about 20 min of your time.

this talks about the OEM solenoid:

FWIW, i had to cut a peice of plate and put under (above) my carrier bearing, it had a good shudder on take off.

when i was loaded this past weekend, and setting level, it was shuddering again

Oh, I was just kidding about needing a new tranny. I just really want to be able to mark it off of my wish list.

I found the solenoid/sensor online for pretty cheap so I'll probably give it a shot. I've already got a shift kit in it as well...

However, I'm still not 100% convinced that it's the 1-2 shift hunt from what I've read in other threads. Hopefully I'm wrong.

For the record, it was indeed the sensor and solenoid. The more I drove it around the more it began to display the same symptoms that other have noted.

Also, I ended up going w/ the heavy duty upgrade found on PATC's website: http://www.transmissioncenter.net/ Shifts just like she's supposed to now.

Thanks again for the help guys.
