Hesitation/Stumble when cruising and hit bump?
I am new to this forum but have been reading it for a while now and am the proud owner of my first cummins. I even talked my dad into buying his first one also so we are now a two cummins family. Anyway my question is something I have noticed my truck do twice now and do not know if it is normal or not so please help me out here. As I am driving down turnpike with cruise set on 80 and hit rough expansion joint on bridge enough to make me bounce a bit the engine stumbles very noticebly for a split second but enough to slow down almost 5mph and then cruise kicks back in and everything is fine. I just do not know if there is some kind of safety feature that kicks cruise off if hitting really rough stuff that bounces you around or if there is something wrong with my truck that needs to be checked out. Thanks, Ryan

This is normal. Yes, it is a safety feature. If your rear axle bounces enough, it will leave the pavement. The ABS module detects a difference in wheel speeds between the front and the back and therefore knows you are "spinning". Cruise control backs off of the fueling until spinning stops.
In your case, the decrease in speed has planted your rear tires and the cruise returns to normal.
