Help. radiator petcock

Dumb question of the day. how do you close the radiator petcock?
installed my freeze plug, blockoff plate, and modded the tstat. since i was there, i drained the coolant to replace with new. the radiator petcock will not close.
to open i turned counterclockwise, and it started draining. now i cannot get it to stop running out. it will not tighted up, it just spins. i have tried pushing in gently while turning and no change.

someone bail me out please
thanks

They can be a pain. Push it in hard as you twist it. It is threaded, so you have to catch them first. If you can, squirt some oil, WD40 or something to lubricate the plastic. Pliars help.

I ended getting new O-Ring and couldn't get it to start either. I used small hammer to tap it till it popped in then I could turn it like normal.
