the weight of the oil does not deterime if it is synthetic or regular.they both come in different weights just make sure the bottle says diesel oil an has printed on the label that it is api rated ci-4 or ci-4 plus rated .15-40 is considered todays standard diesel oil.

3 gallons(12 quarts) of oil. Rotella 15w-40 is regular oil and Rotella 5w-40 is a "synthetic". The oil needs to be at least CI-4 rated.

I see you live in TX and it most likely it don't get below 10 above zero very often so you should be able to use 15w40 oil year round unless you want to use 5w40 synthetic oil year round like some of us do.

If you change the oil every 5-10k I wouldnt worry about gettin synthetic. Just get an oil that has the above rating ^^^ and make sure it is a quality oil.

3 gallons as stated and I run delo 400 15w40 and i think that and rotella are probably the two most common/prefered but any good name brand will do.

Huh? I bought three gallons today at Kmart and it was about $11/ bottle. The bottle is white but looks like it might be a new formula/marketing than the bottles I bought a few months ago. I thought the synthetic Rotella was in a gray or blue bottle. Anyone know for sure? I only have 10K miles and don't want any synthetic.

For $11 a gallon, you bet you got regular, not synthetic! BTW, I pay around $8 a gallon for Delo. That's at Walmart.
