HELP! Oil blowing out of vent
Hey i am looking for some advice on what you guys think, My truck is an 05 with only 36,000 on it and last night hauling a load of hay i noticed alot of smoke behind me and not the good kind! Well today i looked at it and it has oil all under the truck, looks like it is blowing out of the engine vent tube?? Also my oil level is reading high, looks like i may have fuel in my oil??? What is the cause of it? Any problems with the dealer taking care of this??

You do not want to drive it due to potential damage, you are lubing your engine with diesel fuel. More than likely you have lost an injector and it is washing down the cylinder into your crankcase. Remove the Power puck and boost fooler and anyother power mods prior to taking it into the dealer or you may lose your warranty. It may depend on if your dealer is mod friendly but if not sure remove it to avoid problems. As I said you will go thru fuel like water from a faucet and "Will do damage". If you can get the mods off then you should call Dodge for their wrecker service to tow it to your closest local dealer. If it is warrantied it should be under the Cummins part of the warranty, unless you are still under 36000 miles with no deductable but many dealers will try to charge it under the 7/70 with $100 deductable. See if you can get them to check them all as when 1 goes another usually isn't far behind. Some have reported that if 2 or more are bad they will replace all 6 so I would go for it and try for all 6, otherwise you will end up changing one every few months for a while.......Also just noticed your missing in action Cat could cause a problem also, will have to see or put it back on...........

I don't think it is noticible so I would just play dumb and leave it. Other wise it should be anything that flags you have "power enhancers (sp)" installed, a few dealers even knock the cold air intakes so just be careful. If you still have the stock intake it might not hurt to change it also. Many have complained that dealers are getting very fussy about any mods and trying to void warrantys, so you have to decide if it is worth taking the chance. The dealer usually would not check the silencer ring but a few have even made an issue of that, but I wouldn't worry too much there either.
The important question to me is do you have any history with your dealer? Is he aware of any of your mods? Have you had the truck in for any regular service ? If so and they haven't said anythin prior than it may be safe to try them but if in doubt just remove it or put it back on to stock.....Buy the way injectors are $600 or more each, and 2 hours labor plus if needed diganostic labor over and above the changing labor, 1 or 2 oil changes so it can get very expensive quite quickly. If you end up having to pay you are usually better to have extra HP after market injectors installed, both cost wise and satisfaction wise.
Again JM02 worth of oninion.
